Sunrisers Hyderabad signs up Jason Roy as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh.
One of the most loved franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history has signed up England’s explosive opener Jason Roy for the upcoming edition of the Vivo IPL 2021.
Mitchell Marsh, the Australian all-rounder, pulled his name from the upcoming edition due to some personal reasons. The IPL 2021 is scheduled to take place on April 9. We will witness some high-octane action from the word go as Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will lock horn in the opening game of the IPL 14.
Mithell Marsh was in some form in the Big Bash League 10th edition. He scored 315 runs at a great strike rate of 147.89 in 14 innings. He also took 4 wickets in 5 innings for Perth Scorchers.
Marsh had made his IPL debut a way before e.i, in 2010 for Deccan Chargers. Mitchell Marsh has apperaed in 21 games so far in the IPL history. Marsh accumulated 225 runs in the IPL from those appearings. His highest score came against Mumbai Indians as he scored 38 runs. Michell Marsh also scalped 20 wickets in the IPL history.
Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired Jason Roy at a base price of INR 2 Crore.
Jason Roy made his IPL debut in 2017 playing for Gujarat Lions & later featured for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 IPL edition. He has played a total of 8 matches and scored 179 runs with one half-century to his name.
Jason Roy was in tremendous form in the recently concluded limited over series against India. He scored 144 runs in the five-match T20I series. You may think this is not a great stat but his impact in the T20I series was quite commendable.
Jason Roy also scores 115 runs in the three-match ODI series against India with a great strike rate of 123.66.
Jason Roy earned his maiden call-up to the English side for the one-off T20I against India in September 2014 on the back of cracking 677 runs at a superb average of 48.35 in that season’s Natwest T20 blast.
