Steve Smith opts for Saini and Siraj in the absence of Shami. Team India suffered a big blow on day 3 of the first test match of the Border Gavaskar Series. On day 3 of the pink ball test, India’s bowling spearhead Mohammad Shami suffered an arm fracture. Mohammad Shami was struck on the forearm when he tried to duck a well-directed short-ball from Aussies pacer Pat Cummins.
India registered their lowest inning total in the second inning of the Adelaide Test. India is already missing the service of Ishant Sharma in the ongoing test series. Ishant Sharma was training with Rohit Sharma at the National Cricket Academy under the eyesight of Rahul Dravid and Chief selector Sunil Joshi. Sharma couldn’t pass the fitness test at the required time While Rohit Sharma has passed the test and flew to Australia for the test series.
Steve Smith opts for Saini and Siraj in the absence of Shami:
India will be playing the remainder of the series without Mohammad Shami. But Steve Smith believes that India has two good bowling options in the test despite the unavailability of India’s spearhead Mohammad Shami. Smith names Saini and Siraj to fill the shoes in the absence of Shami and Ishant.
“I think they’re two quality bowlers who can have some good Test careers. Obviously, they are missing Ishant (Sharma) as well, which is a big loss for them in terms of experience,” Smith told reporters, quoted by PTI.
Steve Smith got dismissed for a mere one run in the historic Pink Ball Test Match by India’s off-spinner Ravi Ashwin. Smith always tries to learn from his mistakes and said,
“The spinners that do well here generally those who get over the top of the ball and beat you with more bounce or in the air as opposed to ones that come around the ball,”
“It’s about finding a way to adapt and that’s what the best players do around the world. I’ll hopefully learn something from that, move forward and play a little bit better in the next game,” Smith further told reporters.
India and Australia are set to meet in a boxing day Test match which is scheduled to take place from December 26. Australia is leading the series with 1-0 while three more tests to go in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
