Steve Smith coaches himself ahead of 3rd Test. India and Australia are leveling up the series with 1-1 with two more tests to go in the Border Gavaskar series.

Steve Smith was in great form during the Limited over series against India. Smith scored two back to back centuries in the 50-over format on just 62 balls and won the Man of the Series award for his performance.

Steve Smith lost his rhythm in his favorite format of the game. In four innings, he couldn’t reach the two-digit score. Smith remained unbeaten (1*) in the second inning of the first test match in Adelaide. Ravi Ashwin has dismissed Steve Smith on two occasions in the Border Gavaskar Series.

If Steve Smith would be dismissed on a single-digit score in the first inning of the third test then it will be only the second occasion that Steve Smith wouldn’t cross two-digit score in three consecutive innings. The first such incident happened to Smith in The Ashes 2015 series.

You may have some concerns about Steve Smith’s form in the ongoing series but he stills averaging over 61 in test format only second the great Sir Don Bradman.

Australia head coach Justin Langer during the net session on Tuesday at SCG positioned himself behind Smith’s net. But Justin Langer was not there for a long time. He analyzed Smith’s batting from behind for some time and then became busy with possible debutant Will Pucovski.

“Imagine how good we’ll be when he does start batting well,” Australia head coach Justin Langer said.

“That’s how I look at it. He hasn’t had the best of series so far, he’ll be the first to admit that. But my gosh, what I know about great players is the longer they miss out, the sooner it is that they’re coming good again. So that puts a big smile on my face.” Langer added further.

“I don’t coach Steve Smith. Steve Smith coaches himself and I’m sure he’s going to work it out. He is a great player and I can’t wait to watch him bat this Test match and the next Test match.” Australia Head Coach Justin Langer said.

The third test between India and Australia will start on January 7. Both the team have won a game each and with two more games to go, it will be interesting to see who gonna grab the Border Gavaskar Trophy this time. India won the Border Gavaskar trophy at the previous meeting.
