The ongoing fifth edition of PSL ( Pakistan Super League) has been called off amidst the fear of new pandemic COVID-19 ( Coronavirus). The PSL has reached the stage of Play-Off.

But the Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB) CEO Wasim Khan confirmed the news that ongoing PSL is called off with immediate effect.


Earlier the PCB altered the playoffs matches amidst to coronavirus. The Playoffs were scheduled to be played with Qualifiers and Eliminator matches, but later on, it is altered into two semi-finals.


The first semi-final was schedule between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi and in the second semi-final, Karachi Kings is set to take on  Lahore Qalandars. Both semi-finals were scheduled in  Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.


PCB CEO  Wasim Khan confirmed the suspension of the ongoing PSL after an overseas player, who had already left Pakistan some days ago, showed the symptoms of the corona virus.


In a press PCB CEO Wasim Khan stated,

“One overseas player has been suspected with coronavirus. However, we cannot reveal the identity of that player. But it’s true that there is one suspected case.”

Individuals from the  PSL league, including the team members, support staff and production unit all, are going to examine the test of the novel COVID-19 ( Corona virus).

PCB reiterates No player or support staff has been found positive of the novel corona virus. PCB  arranged a undergo test for players and support staff earlier.

The report of all the players and support staff came negative.


As per the report of the Pakistan Newspaper, The Dawn, On Monday Pakistan registered their highest single-day case of coronavirus which is 90. A total of 184 individual affecting from the novel corona virus has been reported til now in Pakistan.


The suspension of PSL is another sports event canceled by the novel corona virus. Last week India vs South Africa ODI series, Australia vs New Zealand ODI and T20I series, England tour to Sri Lanka is also suspended amidst the fear of corona virus.


Corona virus affecting people globally. Till now 120,000 people have been affected by the COVID-19 and by each passing day it increasing more which is really horrible. Around 5,400 people have been passed away due to this novel corona virus.
