No IPL no payment for contracted players. The fate of the Indian Premier League ( IPL) is pretty uncertain for this year. Probably looking at the scenario IPL may get canceled.

The cash-rich IPL which was earlier supposed to take on the place from March 29. But amid the concern of Coronavirus, it got delayed for 15 days.

India has currently held a lockdown for 21 days. Which is going to end on April 14. Thus the BCCI officials shifted the mega for April 15.

The other reason for shifting the IPL is that the Government will not issue any foreign visa till April 15 except in some fields.

This year’s IPL which chances is very high to be canceled or shifting to a later date. Coronavirus affecting people’s lives globally and sports events too. The Tokyo Olympic and the IPL have been postponed due to coronavirus outbreak.

Tokyo Olympic is postponed to a new date. Tokyo Olympic would take place from July 23 to August 8 in 2021.

No IPL no payment for contracted players, regarding IPL payment system an official of a franchise told news agency PTI,

“The system of IPL payment is that 15 percent is paid a week before the tournament starts. 65 percent is paid during the tournament.”

“The remaining 20 percent is paid within a stipulated time after the tournament’s end.” A offical of a franchise told this to PTI regarding IPL payment system.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has some specific guidelines. Obviously, no player will be paid as of now.” he added this to PTI.

In fact, looking at the scenario the BCCI is thinking to cut the due of the domestic level too.

Indian Cricketers Association Chief Ashok Malhotra feels that even domestic level may face the cuts in dues in the time of global pandemic COVID-19.

As per reports Cricket Australia postponed the central contract of their players by a month. The renewal of the Central contract is likely to happen at the end of March.

England Cricket Board thinking to postpone the whole summer season which will result in cuts in payments.

So the bottom line is if this year IPL couldn’t take place then as per specific guidelines of BCCI No IPL no payment for contracted players.
