During the Pakistan tour of India in 2004, Javed Miandad, Pakistan coach at that time made a comment on Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan that these kinds of bowlers can be found in Pakistan street.
Javed Miandad’s comment left Ifran Pathan’s father displeased and he wanted to meet the Pakistan coach, Javed Miandad.
“I remember Javed Miandad saying something like that bowlers like Irfan Pathan are there in every street of Pakistan. I remember, my father, regarding that news, didn’t like it at all.” Irfan Pathan said in a tv show.
Miandad’s comments upset Irfan Pathan’s father during the Pakistan tour:
“I remember in the last game of Pakistan series, he came to Pakistan, and said to me, I want to go the dressing of the Pakistan team and want to meet Javed Miandad.”
“As soon as Javed Miandad saw my father, he stood up and said to my father, I didn’t say anything about your son. My father had a smile on his face and said, I didn’t come here to say anything to you, I wanted to meet you as you were a wonderful player of the game.” Irfan Pathan added.
India went on to win both series, Test and ODI series. Team India won the Test series by 2-1 and ODI series by 3-2.
Irfan Pathan shares his experience about playing in Pakistan and said,
“Cricket, food, hospitality stories. Sachin paaji asked me to sing a song after the winning of the series and the small things and the whole team was playing like a unit, it were wonderful moments.” Irfan Pathan said.
