IPL auction 2021 to be held in the next month, February 11 as per reports. The IPL auction which was scheduled to take place the last December is likely to be held on February 21.
According to an ESPNCricinfo report, the IPL auction is all set to take place on February 11 for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). All the eight franchises of IPL are asked to submit the full list of the players whom they are gonna retained or released till January 20.
IPL auction decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council body through a virtual meeting. In this meeting, the schedule and the venue for the next edition of the IPL are yet to decide by the IPL Governing Council Body.
As per the report, the venue for the 14th edition of the IPL will be decided in the gap between the first and second tests in India and England. The first test between India and England is set to take place on February 05 in Chennai and the second test is on 13 February in Chennai too.
England coming to India to play a full-fledged tour. They will play four tests, 5 T20I, and 3 ODIs from 5 February to March 8.
IPL Governing Council body meeting was headed by Brijesh Patel, the chairman of IPL Governing Council body. Pragyan Ojha was there too for attending the IPL Governing Council body meeting.
IPL governing council body also showed some concerns to COVID-19 cases. In India, almost 20,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported on a daily basis now. IPL Council doesn’t opt out of UAE for the 14th edition of the IPL.
Earlier it was said that a new team might debut in the next edition of the IPL but IPL Governing Body has refused any possibility of adding new teams.
