India might send a second-string side to Asia cup 2021. The Asia Cup 2021 is likely to be held in late June this year in Sri Lanka but as of now, the Asia Cup 2021 is under the scanner.
Asia Cup was suspended last year due to the Coronavirus outbreak globally. Indian cricket team reached the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) a couple of days ago. Team India will face off the New Zealand Cricket Team in the WTC final. The WTC Final is designed to take place on 18-22 June in England. ICC almost moved the WTC final from Lord’s Cricket Ground to Southampton may host the final of the WTC 2021.
Indian Cricket team has a very busy schedule for the coming two years. After the England series, the Indian cricketer is all set to feature in the IPL14. The IPL 2021 gonna end on 30 May.
India will fly to England to play the ICC WTC Final 2021 in June and after that, they begin their preparation for a full-fledged tour of England.
Looking at the very busy schedule BCCI has no choice but to send its second-string team to the Asia Cup 2021. The upcoming edition of the Asia Cup will be the shortest format of the game. The Asia Cup last time played in the shortest format was in 2016 and this year it is expected to be the same.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) approaching the next edition of the Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka. According to some sources, the top official of the BCCI held a meeting with the other ACC members and discussed the window of the Asia Cup 2021.
If the Asia Cup 2021 is going ahead in late June this year then BCCI has no option to send its second-string team for the Asia Cup.
“There’s no other choice. We can’t risk the preparation for the series in England. And cricketers can’t twice undergo quarantine. If the Asia Cup happens, India will have no option but to send a second-string squad,” a official said as reported in TOI.
The last edition of the Asia Cup was held in 2016 and that was the shortest format of the game. M S Dhoni became the only captain to win both formats of the Asia Cup i.e, ODI and T20I format.
Ajinkya Rahane most probably will lead this second-string for the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup. Team India will miss the services of likes Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and other marquee players.
