Faf Du Plessis has something to say on Virat Kohli and Babar Azam‘s comparison. South African cricketer was in Pakistan to play for the Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). PSL resumes after a long eight months break. League matches of the PSL had been played earlier in the year, only the playoff and final remained.
Faf Du Plessis was the top scorer in the Indian Premier League for his franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, CSK finished its run on the number 7 spot in the IPL.
Faf Du Plessis has something to say on Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s comparison:
“I do (see similarities between Kohli and Babar). They are extremely high-quality players. Babar, over the last year or so, has taken another step towards becoming one of the greats of the game so he has got an exciting future,” Du Plessis said in an interview.
Comparison between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam has raised quite a lot these days. Many cricket experts saying it’s too early to compare Babar with the modern great King Kohli. Some days ago former Pakistan skipper Mohammed Yousuf also express his thoughts on this topic. Yusuf said Babar is slightly better in comparison to India skipper Virat Kohli at this age.
In recent days Babar Azam improved his game in the T20 cricket and that surprised Faf. Virat Kohli is the only batsman who averages above 50 in each format of the game and Babar is the only batsman who features in the top 5 batting rankings in all the formats.
“I think he surprised a lot of people with his T20 cricket. People would have originally boxed him as a guy that hasn’t got a lot of power but certainly, of late his T20 game has been remarkable,” Du Plessis add further.
Faf also recalled his old memories in Pakistan as the world leader of playing XI.
“The last time I was here was for the World XI game which was really great to be a part of. The biggest thing for me was seeing the fans and how much it meant to them that cricket was being played in Pakistan again. It was a great part of my journey as a cricketer.” Du Plessis said.
