PM Narendra Modi held a meeting with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, Mary Kom amidst the concern of pandemic COVID-19.
This is the first occasion of PM Modi to hold a conference meeting with the 40 sportsperson of the country since the country is going through a 21 days lockdown.
The other sportsperson were included in the meeting were PT Usha, Vishwanathan Anand, Hima Das, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virender Sehwag, Pullela Gopichand, Bajrang Punia, Yuvraj Singh.
“Interacted with sportspersons via video conferencing on the situation arising due to COVID-19. Sports requires self-discipline, tenacity, teamwork and a fighting spirit. These are also required to defeat Coronavirus.” PM tweeted.
“From sharing videos that reaffirm the importance of fitness, helping the poor and needy, emphasising on social distancing as well as contributing to efforts such as PM-CARES, our sportspersons are doing excellent towards making India free from COVID-19.” he tweeted further.
PM Narendra Modi acknowledged the participation in the fight of coronavirus of all sportsperson and praised them all. PM praised all the sportsperson by saying ‘stellar performances in the field.’
PM Modi also asked all the sportsperson to include five points in their messages. ‘Sankalp‘ to fight with COVID-19.
‘Sanyam‘ to follow the rule of social distancing. ‘Sakratmakta‘ to bring positiveness in the fight with Coronavirus.
‘Samman‘ to respect all the soldiers ( doctors, nurses. police) who are fighting with the pandemic.
And the last one is ‘Sahyog‘ to corporate at the person and national level in fight with COVID-19.
PM also thanked all the frontline workers who are combating with Coronavirus.
